North Berwick, Scotland

So yesterday we woke up early and decided to go on an adventure.  We started out the day with an hour and an half bus ride to the small village of Dirleton.  From the bus stop we walked about a mile to  Yellowcraigs Beach.  It was very beautiful there, raining the whole time, but beautiful.

After playing around for a little while we continued to walk down the beach for about 3 miles until we arrived at North Berwick.  This is a small fishing village.  It is right on the coast and also very beautiful.

Along our walk to North Berwick we spotted the largest jellyfish that either one of us has ever seen!  It was huge!  We also found some really cool shells along the way.

Once we arrived in North Berwick we checked out the pier and harbor then headed into the village.  After walking through the shops and thrift stores (there are tons here in Scotland) we then headed to the train station to make our way back to Edinburgh.  It was my first train ride ever and took about 30 minutes to get back.  Jeremy feel asleep, he was unamused, but I was loving being able to checkout the countryside.  We arrived back to the flat around 6:30 and found out that we had to be at the theater ready to do make-up at 8pm because a TV station wanted to film us getting into costume and make-up.  It was a little interesting being filmed while getting ready for a show, but it will be fun to watch.  I think that it is supposed to be posted online so I'll let everyone know when I know something.

Today was just a day to relax.  Jeremy did work and I had a rehearsal at 2pm. Starting today we will have to hand out flyers to our show every other day to people at other shows so we'll be trying to see the country on our days off.  That means we have an adventure for tomorrow!

A Little Behind

Yes I know...I know I'm way behind on this thing.  I last posted on Thursday and now it's almost Wednesday.  Wait it actually is Wednesday ... 12:29am.   Wow how the time flies.  We have been so busy with trying to promote the show and then perform in the show that I haven't had much time to do anything else.  I actually didn't do anything productive today, but I let Jeremy have a day to actually do some work so he was on the computer all day.  I went off to the thrift stores and just had a relaxing day.  It was actually quite nice.

Yesterday we went to Carlton Hill which is a modern Roman-ish memorial here in Edinburgh.  We took a lot of pictures so I'll do two posts so you can see more than just a few pics.
Well you haven't really missed much the last few days.  Opening night went ok.  We had a few technical problems that carried on to the next night but by Saturday we had it down pretty good.  So far we've had mixed reviews about the show.  The nights where the audience doesn't really respond are the hardest.  It tends to bring all of us down and it's hard to get through the show.  Other nights we have a great audience and it tends to be a lot more fun.  Tonight was our biggest audience yet and they were awesome!  It really brought our spirits up and we ended up performing a good show.  Oh and I'm finally better now...no more runny nose and such, so I can actually sing!  The second and third performance I pretty much had to whisper during the show because...let's just say it was bad.

Anyways.  On Sunday and Monday we had little preview performances on the Royal Mile, which is a famous and very popular street through Edinburgh.  During the festival it is compared to Times Square during New Year's Eve....I've never been to Times Square during that time...but if I had to imagine...I would have to agree.  It was packed, but a lot of fun to perform.  By the end of the month I would have to estimate that I will be in a least a few hundred to a thousand people's vacation photos.  Yes..yes I am one of THOSE people.  Any of you that are on facebook you can actually check out some of those photos from fellow members of the cast.
Well I should really get to sleep.  We have an exciting day planned tomorrow and want to get an early start.  I'll make sure to post pictures from tomorrow also!  Goodnight!

We Open Tonight!...and I'm super sick!

Yes folks it is true...I'm sick as a dog.  Runny nose, stuffy nose, scratchy throat, sore throat, fever, headache, and eyes that won't stop watering.  As of right now it's 4:23pm and I've been in bed since about 1:30pm.  I have to be ready and at vocal warm-up at 7pm then walk to the theater at 7:30 handing out flyers along the way to get there for 8:30pm show starts at 9pm.  How am I going to do it you may ask?  With every will and might that I can scrounge together.  Not sure at this point if I am going to be able to sing or not...they might just have to keep my mic off, but we'll see at vocal warm-up.

I've been trying to sleep but with no luck.  Jeremy on the other hand has been passed out beside me pretty much this whole time.  Lucky him.  If only it were that easy maybe I wouldn't be sick in the first place.  Don't worry I've been taking all the meds possible.  I'm taking vitamin C, zinc, cold medicine, ginseng, and andrographeis.  I think I'm covered.  Well I'm going to relax for about an hour more and then get ready to paint my face!  By the way these pics are from yesterday's dress rehearsal.

Look at those people on the street!

Sorry I wasn't able to do a post yesterday, but it was a pretty hectic day.  Once we finally finished with dress rehearsal we went back out in costume and handed out flyers again.  By the time we got home it was after 7 and the runny nose was really kicking in.

Jeremy and I left the house and went out in search of some cold medicine.
Unfortunately, everything in Edinburgh closes at 6pm so we ended up at a grocery store close to a mile away from our flat.  They didn't have much but I made do.

We got back some time after 9, I made dinner, and then we left again around 10:30pm.  Jeremy had another tech rehearsal from 11:30p-1:30a and I was going with the rest of my cast to see another show that started at 11:10pm.  We didn't end up getting to sleep until around 2:30am because that's when Jeremy finally made it back.

Just Another Day of Rehearsal

Well today we pretty much just rehearsed the whole time.  We started at 10am and finished up around 3pm then had another rehearsal from 7pm until 10pm.  We open on Thursday so we are really trying to make sure we've got everything looking good.  Christian (a guy from the cast), Jeremy, and I decided to go for a walk around town between 3 and 7 just to get some fresh air.  I took a picture or two while I was out and about.

Now we are just hanging out in our room relaxing because we have another long and interesting day tomorrow.  We have a dress rehearsal at 1:50pm so we are all meeting at our flat to warm up at 11am then we are going to get into costume and make-up and walk to the theater, handing out flyers for our show along the way....yes in costume and make-up and did I mention it's 1.3 miles?  This will be interesting so I'll be sure to have Jeremy taking pictures.  What actually sucks the most is that I'm getting sick and being out in the cold in a unitard isn't exactly what I need to be doing.  Oh well gotta do what I gotta do.  We'll also be walking back to our flat in costume and make-up when we are done with the show.  Goodnight!

Royal Botanical Gardens

Vocal Rehearsal lasted about 3 hours so afterwards we had some time to kill. We decided to walk around and check out the sights in the opposite direction that we've been having to walk. Along the way I remembered that the Royal Botanical Gardens were nearby so we decided to stop by. It was very big, but also really nice. Here are some pics of our adventure. Going to bed early tonight and then some shopping tomorrow! We don't have rehearsal until 6:30 so we'll actually be able to be out and about when the stores are open.

Good Morning Edinburgh!

Ahhhh I finally got some sleep. It wasn't great, but at least it was more than I've been getting. I woke up around 9am and cleaned up our room a bit and got dressed. Jeremy got up around 10 and we walked down the street to pick up some orange juice. Afterwards we cooked eggs, bacon, and pancakes for breakfast. MMMMM it was good and much better than cereal. Now we are waiting for everyone to get here for our vocal rehearsal. After that I don't know what's in store for today. I guess we'll see and I'll let you know later.  By the way this is Jeremy and me sitting in our window of our room.
